97.5 Y Country Medical Minute – Healthcare Coverage After Graduation

Graduation season is here and thousands of southwest Michigan students are turning their tassels to the next chapter of their life.   Wherever life may take you, whether its college, workforce or even taking a year off, Cassopolis Family Clinic Network is here to make sure you have health insurance coverage for the road ahead.  This week’s Y Country Medical Minute covers the importance of making sure you have health insurance coverage after graduation.

Commercial Insurance

Are you currently on your parents’ commercial health insurance?  Be sure to call your insurance company to make sure you will remain covered as you enter college.  If you are attending college in another state, make sure you will have full coverage in that state.

If you and your parents are covered by Michigan Medicaid and are 18 you may be eligible to start your own insurance coverage.   If you are traveling to another state, you will want to meet with a state Medicaid representative to ensure you are covered while you are away.

CFCN Community Health Workers

Cassopolis Family Clinic Network has Community Health Workers on staff to help enroll patients in Michigan Medicaid Healthcare Plans or the Sliding Fee Discount Program.  They are also very knowledgeable of various community resources to make sure you are on your path to a healthy and happy future.

If you have questions or would like more information on this topic, please feel free to contact CFCN Community Health Workers at (269) 445-3874.
