97.5 Y-Country Medical Minute – Get Some Sleep!
May is Better Sleep Month! This week’s Y-Country Medical Minute quickly discusses tips on getting a good night of sleep so that you can spring out of bed rested and feeling great.
Did you know Americans are considered to be in the midst of a sleep loss epidemic? According to The Better Sleep Council and The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 8 in 10 Americans say they need more sleep to be more productive in their day to day activities.
Schedule a Sleep Meeting
8 hours of sleep is the recommended amount in order to let your body fully rest. Set an appointment reminder for every evening so that you remember to go to bed on time. It is considered poor manners to be late for a meeting, so why be late for a good night of rest.
Not another 9 minutes
When the sun rises, it is easy to hit the snooze button. Just like the country song, ‘Another 9 minutes,’ by Yankee Grey, reaching for the snooze button may do you more harm than good. This month, try to set your alarm for the exact time you need to get up rather than setting it early with the mindset of having a snooze button.
The best part of Kindergarten…. Nap Time!
Some think taking a nap mid-day may do more harm than good, but 10 to 30-minute naps actually help your body to gain additional energy to power thru your day without disturbing a good night of sleep.
