97.5 Y-Country Medical Minute – Stress-Less Holiday
Aired: 12/16/2019
The holiday season is a time for family and friends to gather and celebrate life’s many blessings. While this is a joyful time, it can also become overwhelming and stressful. This week’s Y-Country Medical Minute quickly discusses tips on how to have a stress-less holiday season.
You Time
With the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, it is really important to set aside time for yourself. Try going for a walk, meditating, listening to calming music, or even scheduling a spa day.
Healthy Habits
The holiday season is filled with big dinners, holiday beverages, and sugary treats. It is extremely important to eat a healthy diet, drink plenty of water, avoid sweets, exercise and get at least seven hours of sleep each night. If you are worried about over eating, try having a healthy snack before you go to avoid overindulging.
Simplify Your Holiday
If you are easily overwhelmed, remember to keep it simple. Having a get together at your home? Keep it simple. Get everyone involved and delegate. Rather than taking care of the entire meal on your own, ask everyone to bring a dish to pass. If you know hosting an event in your home will cause you extreme stress and anxiety, know your limitations and simply say no.
