97.5 Y-Country Medical Minute – Celebrate the Holidays Responsibly
Aired: 12.9.2019
The holiday season is the #1 most dangerous time of the year for alcohol-related accidents and deaths. This week’s Y-Country Medical Minute quickly discusses tips on how to celebrate the holidays with friends and family responsibly.
Think Ahead
Designate a sober driver – Before heading out to enjoy an evening of dinner and adult beverages, decide who will be the designated driver. Be sure to ‘Thank’ your driver by paying for their meal and/or non-alcoholic beverage.
Schedule a ride – Party buses or limos are a great way to safely enjoy an evening with your closest friends without the worry of drinking and driving.
Be the Hostess with the Mostest
Hosting a holiday party? Offer fun and festive non-alcoholic drinks for the designated sober drivers. A few suggestions: Non-Alcoholic Sparkling Cider, Shirley Temples, Sherbet Punch.
Last Minute Decision
When faced with a situation where you have had too much to drink and do not have a designated driver, stop and consider your options.
- Call a friend or family member
- Ask the bartender to call a taxi or shuttle service
- Call an Uber
