97.5 Y-Country Medical Minute – Who Do I Need a Primary Care Provider?

 Aired: 10/21/2019

When most individuals think of going to the doctor, it is usually correlated to an illness.  Even though scheduling a doctor’s visit when you are sick is important, establishing a primary care provider before you get sick is crucial.  This week’s Y-Country Medical Minute quickly discusses why you need a primary care provider.

Taking Care of Your Whole Self

Whether you are ill, having concerns about your family history, have questions regarding a vaccine, feeling anxious, or need assistance managing your medications, a primary care provider focuses on holistic healthcare and has the resources available to help you maintain a healthy life physically and mentally.

Someone You Get to Know and Trust

When you need the attention of a provider, it is beneficial if the provider already has a relationship with you and understands your concerns and medical history.   By scheduling annual visits with your primary care provider, together you are able to build your medical history and manage concerns and conditions before they become an issue.

 Lower Overall Healthcare Costs

By keeping regular appointments with your primary care provider, scheduling regular screenings, and keeping open communication with your provider, patients can not only catch health issues early, it can also contribute to a reduction in overall healthcare costs.
