Are you constantly tired or just not feeling energized? You may not be getting enough sleep. This week’s Y-Country Medical Minute quickly discusses the importance and benefits of getting sufficient sleep.

How much sleep do I need?
• Adults should sleep 7 or more hours each night.
• 1 in 3 adults don’t get enough sleep.

Did you know, lack of sleep is linked to several chronic diseases and conditions?
Not getting enough sleep is associated with an increased risk for a number of chronic diseases and conditions.
• Diabetes
• Cardiovascular disease
• Stroke
• Depression
• Obesity

A few tips for a good night of sleep:
• Go to bed and get up at the same time each day.
• Make sure your bedroom is dark, quiet and a comfortable temperature.
• Rid of all electronic from bedroom including your cell phone!
• Avoid caffeine in evening and before bed.
• Exercise Daily.
• Maintain a healthy weight.
